The BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Business offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of optional units across a range of occupational sectors at Level 4. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the students for subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.
And at Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Business, it offers students six specialised pathways designed to support progression into relevant occupational areas or to degree-level study. These pathways are linked to Professional Body standards (where appropriate) and can provide professional status and progression to direct employment.

Assessment Methods
The assessment of Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business is purely assignment based. The purpose of assessment is to ensure that effective learning of the content of each unit has taken place. Evidence of this learning, or the application of the learning, is required for each unit and the assessment of the evidence relates directly to the assessment criteria for each unit. Assessment instruments are created to fit the purpose of the module.
Should a learner fail to meet any assessment criteria of the learning outcomes at first attempt, one resubmission of evidence for each assignment may be granted subject to the set conditions of resubmission guidelines. Failure to meet the assessment criteria at second attempt will result to a redo of the entire module.
When a student fails to obtain a minimum of the assessment then referral may be granted. There will only be two referral attempts per module which must be taken within the course eligibility period.
Graduation Criteria
Students must obtain at least a grade of Pass to successfully complete a module. With an overall passing mark, the student will then qualify for graduation. Points are available per credit at specified unit grades:

BTEC Higher Nationals are well recognised internationally – the qualifications are currently delivered in 65 different countries. As with most progression pathways to degrees, the entry point for a learner is at the discretion of the international higher education centre. In addition, the centre may have specific requirements around language levels, etc. that the learner will need to meet as part of the application process. Over 100 universities worldwide recognise BTEC qualifications for progression so graduates can pursue a top-up final year degree with British, Australia and US universities.
The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business is a vocational qualification and so provides learners in Singapore with a range of skills and knowledge that can be readily applied in the workplace.
