Academic Requirements

• Overall pass in GCE “N” Level with at least a Grade 5 in any two subjects or pass in TCMHC GCE “N” Level in-house test
• Pass in GCE “N” Level Chinese with minimum Grade 5 or pass in TCMHC GCE “N” Level in-house test

Modules Covered

• Make-up
  • This module aims to impart in students knowledge in the use of care or cosmetic substances, generally mixtures of chemical compounds or organic substances, to enhance the appearance and odour of the human body. Students will learn the factors involved in cosmetic design and application: skin type, skin condition, acne-prone skin, skin care routines, and ingredients used in make-up. The course will give students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills, and to cultivate and boost their confidence in this field.
• Manicure and Pedicure
  • This module provides many avenues for student-learning in areas of contraindications for nail disease and disorders, performing hand sanitation, using nail equipment like cuticle knives and buffers, nail finishing, and applying proper hygiene standards in nail treatment. Students will also learn about the structure of the nail, as well as various anatomical and physiological systems influencing nail treatment like the lymphatic system and the muscular system.  Essentially, students will learn to apply knowledge about nail manicure and pedicure treatments in their workplace.
• Waxing
  • This module aims to give a foundation in Waxing as a form of depilatory and temporary hair-removal. Students will be taught how to perform a litany of Waxing treatments including: hot wax, cool wax, sugaring, pre/after wax lotion, disposable spatula, cotton wool, waxing strips and tweezers. Students will learn to take appropriate contraindication and precautionary measures, as well as apply proper hygiene practices when performing Waxing treatments.
• Professional Conduct and Business Awareness
  • This module dwells with the working know-how and experience in different industry. It explores the types of businesses, advantages and disadvantages of each type of business, finance and costing, advertisement paraphernalia, and chances of promotion in the industry.
• Skincare and Eye Treatments
  • This module aims to give a foundation in Skin Care and Eye Treatment. In essence, students will be able to understand the appropriate legislation application applicable to facial treatments, in order to provide correct consultation and applied skills for the face and body. Students will learn about contraindications that restrict treatment, and the importance of gaining consent from future customers before performing treatment. Contraindications may arise during the process of therapy including: facial cleansing and bleaching, eyebrow lifting and tweezing, using of masks, and facial massage. Besides these, students will also learn to understand and recognize the pathology of different illnesses like skin diseases, skin cancer, and other bodily ailments.

• Distinction 90%-100%
• Merit 75%-89%
• Pass 60%-74%

Graduation Requirement

• Local student must achieve 75%
• International student must achieve 90%

Awards

Certificate will be awarded by International Therapy Examination Council (UK). Student will be awarded with an ITEC Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialists.
