Academic Requirements

• 2 GCE ‘A’ levels Pass or Foundation Certificate for Higher Education (FCHE) or Certificate in Foundation Skills (CIFS) or other equivalent qualification deemed acceptable by Informatics Academy.
• Engish Language Proficiency: GCE ‘O’ Level – C6, IELTS – Min score of 5.5 OR, TOEFL (PBT) – Min score of 513 OR, TOEFL (iBT) – Min score of 65 OR, Informatics Certificate in Proficiency in English
• Mature candidates (21 years old and above) with the below credentials may be considered for mature entry on a case-by-case basis:
  • Completed Secondary Education
  • Fulfilled English language proficiency requirement

Modules Covered

• Economics
  • This module covers the fundamental economic theories, concepts and policies. The module also covers economic principles that are applied in decision-making within a business environment. Students will develop an understanding of the general economic environment and its effects on business organisation and the markets in which they operated in. Students will learn to leverage on their economics knowledge as an analytical tool to solve real world business problems.
• Management 1
  • This module is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of theory and practice of management, and some elements of the behaviour of people in organisations. The objectives, roles, functions and various forms of business organisation adapting to a dynamic and changing environment will be covered. Students will have an in-depth understanding of the nature of the management process, as well as the application of the principles and theories of management to the actual practice in an organisation.
• Marketing
  • This module examines the role and value of marketing in today’s increasingly competitive and dynamic environment. The management of the market function will be defined in diverse marketing situations. Marketing principles will be covered and students will learn to analyse, plan, implement and control policies designed to achieve marketing and corporate objectives in both profit and non-profit organisation. This module also introduces the marketing mix elements and students will study how companies use marketing tools and concepts to improve their performance.
• Accounting
  • This unit demonstrates an understanding of the theoretical framework of accounting and principles underlying accounting statements. Upon completion of this unit students will be able to evaluate the performance and the financial position of organisations from their financial statements.
• Principles of Business Communication
  • Business Communication is one of the most important aspects of Business Administration. Students will be taught to present a variety of data in both written and graphical form, and are kept abreast of current developments in communication technology. The principles of business communications will also be extensively covered. The general aim of this module is to help students appreciate, understand and analyse organisation theories, principles, processes, design and structures.
• Principles of Management
  • This module covers the principles and functions of management. Students will learn the key elements in planning, decision-making and significance of different controls required in an organisation. Students will also be able to develop a sound understanding of the process of organising the resources of the firm.
• Principles of Quantitative Methods
  • This module covers the rules of numeracy. It provides some of the basic mathematical data used in graphical form. Students will learn to present and analyse simple business data.
• Principles of Accounting
  • This module provides students with the basic principles of accounting and their application. It covers the preparation of Trading and Profit & Loss accounts, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow reports for sole traders and limited liability companies, as well as the characteristics of cost behaviour.

• Combination of lectures, tutorials and workshop conducted in classroom environment at Informatics Academy campus. Lessons are typically in blocks of 3-hour sessions

Assessment Methods

Students will be assessed through a combination of coursework and project. Coursework may be in the form of class tests and assignments. Assessment methods may vary according to individual module requirements.

Graduation Criteria

Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the International Diploma in Business Administration awarded by Informatics Academy.

Upon successful completion of the International Diploma in Business Administration awarded by Informatics Academy, the student is eligible to apply for an Informatics Academy International Advanced Diploma in Business Administration.
