Academic Requirements

• International Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management awarded by Informatics Academy or other equivalent qualification deemed acceptable by Informatics Academy.
• Engish Language Proficiency: GCE ‘O’ Level – C6, IELTS – Min score of 5.5 OR, TOEFL (PBT) – Min score of 513 OR, TOEFL (iBT) – Min score of 65 OR, Informatics Certificate in Proficiency in English
• Mature candidates (21 years old and above) with the below credentials may be considered for mature entry on a case-by-case basis:
  • Completed Secondary Education
  • Fulfilled English language proficiency requirement
  • 3 years working experience in a related field

Modules Covered

• Convention And Event Management
  • The expansive growth of the meeting, exposition, event and convention (MEEC) industry within the hospitality industry, communities and college curricula, demands this current, comprehensive introduction to the various segments of the MEEC Industry. This unit provides the essential knowledge to become an MEEC expert.
• Food And Beverage Management
  • The purpose of this module is to teach students the practical attitude, knowledge and skills needed for entry-level positions in the food and beverage area. In addition to learning the day-to-day operations expected from the food and beverage industry, students will be taught basic cost control systems, budgeting, menu planning, resource planning and restaurant floor plans.
• Global Marketing Strategy
  • The module is designed to equip students with the expertise in developing marketing strategies for countries other than their own. This allows students to extend their knowledge of marketing to deal with international marketing situations in non-domestic markets and understand the impact of international competitors on the domestic market. The module also promotes an understanding of the factors determining the extent to which standardisation in strategy and implementation is appropriate for success in international markets.
• Housekeeping Management
  • This module prepares students with effective technical and managerial skills for Housekeeping management at an entry level. Students will learn the detailed processes and procedures that would be useful for work in medium to large size hotel properties. It explains the need for quality service and shows how it can be ensured. The module also includes discussions on alternative methods of providing the same service, and explains the issues for all of them.
• Human Resource And Cross Culture Management
  • This module provides students with the planning, organising, influencing and control knowledge in relation to human resource management in the hospitality and tourism organisations. This module is presented from the standpoint of the practitioner. It examines the tasks, duties, and responsibilities performed by human resource practitioners.
• Marketing Research
  • This module demonstrates the role, purpose and scope of marketing research as an aid to improve marketing management decision-making. A wide range of research tools and techniques are examined, which will be applied to management marketing problems in consumer organisational context.
• Principles Of Business Law
  • This module enables students to understand the underlying principles of business laws. Students will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the law of contract and its practical application. Students will also learn about the legal principles relating to sale of goods, customer credit, law of employment and the law of torts.
• Project / Industrial Attachment
  • The Industrial Attachment is a short-term work experience that provides students with the opportunity to put into practice their skills which they have acquired, into the real world workplace. This allows students to gain valuable experience while working under the supervision of a full-time employee thus learning a variety of skills. The skills that can be applied may include teamwork, analytical skills and knowledge acquired while in school.

Graduation Criteria

Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the International Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management awarded by Informatics Academy.

Upon successful completion of the International Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management awarded by Informatics Academy, the student is eligible to apply for a Bachelor Degree programme in Hospitality discipline.
