Academic Requirements

• International Diploma in Computing or International Diploma in Information Technology and Communication or Diploma in Information Technology awarded by Informatics Academy.
• Engish Language Proficiency: GCE ‘O’ Level – C6, IELTS – Min score of 5.5 OR, TOEFL (PBT) – Min score of 513 OR, TOEFL (iBT) – Min score of 65 OR, Informatics Certificate in Proficiency in English
• Mature candidates (21 years old and above) with the below credentials may be considered for mature entry on a case-by-case basis:
  • Completed Secondary Education
  • Fulfilled English language proficiency requirement
  • 3 years working experience in a related field

Non-Academic Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years old

Modules Covered

• Computer Architecture And Data Communication
  • This module provides an overview of computer hardware data communication and networking technology. It aims to inculcate in students the ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer architecture and data communication.
• Data Model And Relational Design
  • This module equips students with the skills to effectively plan and design functional as well as efficient databases. Students will also learn to design and modify tables in a relational database management system. Other topics covered include Database Concepts, Components of the Database Environment, DBMS architecture and data independence, Entity-relationship (E-R) diagrams, Normalisation, and Data Models.
• Database Programming And Security
  • This module exposes students to the latest applications/technologies available in the Database industry. It also introduces the concept of data as a vital resource for the organisation. Other areas covered include the compromise of data integrity due to security breach, access by unauthorised people, and corruption of data.
• Discrete Mathematics
  • This module provides students with a key understanding of Mathematical terminology and concepts. Students will be required to apply their cognitive skills in logical problem solving and in making deductions.
• Information Management
  • This module provides students with an interesting blend of both information systems and data centre management concepts.
• Networks And The Internet
  • The objective of this introductory module is to help students manage the revolution by providing a conceptual understanding of standard technologies used today in networking for computer communications. This module is structured along the four layers of Arpanet communication architecture: Application, Transport, Network and Physical.
• Relational Database Management
  • The module emphasizes on the development of the database component of modern information systems. and on the management of the data resource. Topics include Database Environment, Database Design, Designing Physical Files, SQL, and Data and Database Administrator.
• Software Engineering
  • This module aims to build a broad-based foundation of the software aspects of computing environments. It also provides an understanding of software engineering approaches.

Graduation Criteria

Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the International Advanced Diploma in Database Engineering awarded by Informatics Academy.

Upon successful completion of the International Advanced Diploma in Database Engineering awarded by Informatics Academy, the student is eligible to apply for a Bachelor Degree programme in Information Technology discipline.
