Choosing the right English course is important if you are thinking of furthering your studies in Singapore. Our Certificate in English Language Proficiency (CELP) programme offers you the opportunity to receive language instruction to help prepare you for your studies with us. By learning in small groups led by our outstanding English Faculty, you can receive better assistance to meet your learning needs.

Using the well-known New Cutting Edge content as a teaching tool combined with interactive activities, each level of the CELP programme is designed to build your competency in the English Language. Depending on your goals and your current foundation in the English level, our Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced programmes apply to students at various levels. 

Partnering with the British Council means that you will get to use the LearnEnglish Pathways (LEP), which offers a variety of interactive online lessons, focussing in particular on reading, listening, vocabulary building and grammar. The LEP builds on British Council’s proven expertise in English online learning, which means you will have the opportunity to experience learning in an online environment at your pace, while collaborating with others to build your language competencies. 

In addition to our own exams, the CELP programme also uses Aptis as an assessment tool. This innovative global assessment tool from British Council allows your competencies in the English language to be measured effectively and efficiently over time, thus opening the door to future learning in a broad range of subjects. As a student in our programme, you will be assessed at the start using Aptis and again at the end of the course.

At Intermediate level, the modules that we cover will prepare you with a greater understanding of complex and abstract topics that we may encounter in our daily conversations using the English language. With the training that you receive at the Intermediate level, you can look forward to interacting with your peers with greater fluency and spontaneity, not only to share your views but also to explain issues of interest with accuracy and detail.
