This course introduces students to the principles and practice of modern banking and its regulation in an international context. The course covers the rationale for the existence and regulation of banks, functions of major types of banks and explores how banking meets a range of payments, savings, and investment and risk management needs that exist in modern societies. Attention will be paid to banks’ balance sheets, management of the risks that are inherent in various banking operations and strategies. Students will also explore the structure of banking indifferent countries and topical issues in banking.

Students undertaking this programme will be expected to complete 5 modules of academic study, as well as fulfill a 30-credit Dissertation module as part of the academic and professional requirements of this course. Students will attend 3 semesters of academic study, and are expected to complete between 30 credits to 45 credits each semester.

Assessment Methods
Courses are assessed by a combination of coursework, practical assignments and examinations. Formative assessments will also be included, as well as self- and peer-assessment and a research project.
Graduation Criteria
Students must successfully complete, or be credited with, at least 360 credits within the stipulated period of study as set by the University, either via module exemptions or completion of requisite modules.

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Business Management (Banking and Finance) (Top Up), students will be eligible for entry into the Master of Business Administration International Business / Master of Arts International Business programme offered by the University of Greenwich (UK). Students may apply to specialize in International Business, Operations & Logistics or Tourism & Hospitality Management.
